The landscape can store intense psychological or emotional experience. This can manifest as intangible emotional impressions or apparitions. They often result from habitual actions, trauma or violent emotion.

It’s widely believed that the landscape or a place can record or hold a ‘memory’ that’s created by human consciousness. Vibrations are held or left behind, usually after something of great emotional or traumatic impact has occurred, or because of chronic and long-term emotion. The imprint created by this emotion is held by the environment as place memory.

Place memory affects the way we relate to our environment and can impact us on all levels. Sensitive people coming into a place will often pick up on the vibrations and energies held there, and may even experience a replay of it. Sometimes this is through emotions or the mental faculties, while at other times it can be as visions, apparitions or hauntings.

These imprints can be cleared, and if it’s predecessor energy (created by those before us) it’s likely to remain clear. But it’s important to remember that we all produce our own energies (beneficial or otherwise), which can be held by our environment, and if an imprint was created by us it can be re-created if our thoughts and actions don’t change.
